Frank DeWitt is an experienced Mechanical Designer. At Tropel, he designed commercial metrology products for the micro-electronic industry and proprietary metrology instruments used to build and test Tropel's well-known line of Microlithographic lenses. He has experience designing highly stable, well damped, structures incorporating granite, epoxy / aggregate composite (Granitan*), metal honeycomb, and other materials. At UR/LLE, he designed alignment systems with pointing stability of less then 3 micro radians despite room temperature fluctuations of 2deg. f. this required consideration of thermal damping as well as vibration isolation and stiffness of the structure. Mr. Dewitt is especially fanatical about design for manufacturability, and design for serviceability, a trait which predates the current popularity of these practices.
